What does Apollo Ohno, Bill Gates & many others have in common?

Support, teamwork is essential for long term success!

The key to victory!

“What does Olympic Gold medalist Apollo Ohno, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and Michael Jordan all have in common?”

Your first thought, like mine, might be “success” and while that is true of each of these individuals believe it or not all attribute their personal success to one thing…. “SUPPORT!” All of these individuals have attained the success they now enjoy to one degree or another by having a “coach” or a “mentor”, someone who has instructed, encouraged, pushed, trained and brought the best out of them assisting in reaching their levels of personal greatness.

Former NFL Coach Don Shula said, “A coach is someone who tells you what you may not want to hear in order for you to see what you may not want to see so you can be all you have always wanted to be!”

Similarly when it comes to attaining or maintaining our personal health and fitness goals researchers have found “coaching”, “ongoing support” and “encouragement” are crucial to sustaining lasting personal progress!

Helping relationships such as a friend, spouse can assist you in being honest with yourself providing encouragement, accountability and support. A non-judgmental caring relationship can provide you with an added dose of reality in overcoming resurfacing habits, tempting situations or faulty negative thinking.

I want to encourage you to buddy up with someone close to you who can help keep you accountable to the goals you set for yourself! For example,

1. Ask your neighbor to workout with you
2. Ask someone on this team to call you once a week to see how you are doing
3. Ask your spouse to exercise with you
4. Every weekend get the family involved and walk or bike together

Remember, when beginning or sustaining any health and fitness program, supportive relationships, individuals who will be there for you, are the secret ingredient in sustaining an active, healthy and fit life.
Now go out there an WIN THE DAY!
All the best!
Coach Sean
