How to be fit for the holidays! (Part III of III)

Here are some more tips to be fit for the holidays:

5. Focus on socializing and don’t Hang Around the food!
It’s tough not overeat when you are sitting or standing right next to all the goodies. After you select your favorite foods be sure to move away from the buffet line to a different part of the room. If your favorite dishes are sitting right in front of you politely ask if everyone has had their helping and remove the dish to the kitchen. Sure you can go back for more, but at least it won’t be mindless eating! Focus your energies on reconnecting with family and friends. Also, after dinner remove yourself from the table and help with the dishes….this not only burns a few calories it also get’s you away from the temptation to keep on eating!

6. Eat slowly. Take time and enjoy the taste of your meal. Pace yourself and try to be the last person to finish each course. Take small bites, and chew slowly. It usually takes about 20 minutes for your brain to get the message from your stomach that you are full. By eating slowly, you might be less likely to raid the dessert table.

7. MOVE! Remember to take the time to exercise the day of your party-this will help you to increase your energy, reduce any holiday stress or anxieties as well as help you to be more mindful about your nutrition, as well rev up your metabolism and help your body burn calories more efficiently. Schedule some time to do your 4321 workout in the morning or afternoon to relieve any stress you may be experiencing as well as boosting your metabolism!

May the blessings of God’s love and peace be with you this Christmas and holiday season! Here’s wishing you a happy and fit holiday and a very Happy New Year!
