Here are some more tips to help you be fit for the holidays!
2. Offer to bring a healthy dish: Choose a vegetable or fruit tray with lot’s of color. This strategy not only provides you with something healthy to add t your own plate but also helps the host out!
3. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and at the party. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day will help not only your metabolism and body systems work more efficiently to handle excess calories but it will also help you avoid dehydration, which for some people can lead to overeating!
If you decide to drink any alcohol at the event, be sure to have a one or two tall glasses of water before you drink anything with alcohol and also have one in between your cocktail to slow down how much you are consuming! Remember, alcohol is loaded with calories and can inhibit your food choices throughout the evening.
4. Eat Small Amounts of the Foods You Love:
Enjoy the foods you love, just be sure to sample smaller amounts. Pick out all your favorites and fill the rest of your plate with some healthy “green light foods” veggies and fruits or “yellow light” foods, lean protein, or cheese and whole grain crackers. Oh, and you might want to use a smaller salad or fruit plate-it is always harder to go back for seconds than it is to over fill your plate!
